The Racine Heritage Museum will again present walking tours of Downtown Racine this summer! The Heritage Walking Tours began Saturday, June 9 and will continue every Saturday through Sept. 8.
Racine’s Historic Downtown area is the backdrop for the tour. Experience Racine’s rich industrial and architectural heritage in and around the downtown, lakefront and the Root River valley. Learn the significance of buildings that remain, hear the echoes of structures no longer present and discover notable residents, their impact and how they lived. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable local volunteers, who convey our local history and their love for Racine, lead the tours. Tours are presented rain or shine.
Tour times are at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. each Saturday. Tours are by reservation only and must be made at least 48 hours in advance. Cost per person is $10 and participants must be at least 12 years old. Tour length is 1 hour and 40 minutes and approximately 1.1 miles. Some slight inclines are on the tour and benches are along the tour route. For all questions concerning tour information you may go to heritagemuseum.org or call the museum at (262) 636-3926. The museum is located at 701 Main Street (corner of 7th and Main streets) in Downtown Racine.
