The Myth: No Pain, No Gain!
The Reality: The word “hurt” is used far too much and/or incorrectly in the realm of exercise and fitness. When someone says an exercise “hurts,” to me, I immediately think something is wrong!
Exercise should never hurt! It should feel slightly uncomfortable, or burn a bit, but should never hurt. When I hear “that word,” I automatically think injury or overuse. There is a major difference between pain and discomfort. So, if it’s pain you’re feeling and not just slight to mild discomfort, you might need to take a step back and rest, or even seek professional help.
