About the Owner:
After getting laid off during the Recession and then spending time in a job he disliked, Caleb Robinson decided to start his own business and go back to college. He launched Top Dog Hotdogs in 2009 and became a summertime fixture on Monument Square. Two years later he was invited to bid on the contract to become the vendor at the City of Racine’s concession stand near the boat launch and Smoke’d on the Water was born.
“My goal was to create a place to hang out on the lake and try to revitalize one of downtown’s greatest assets,” Robinson said. Now with the help of five employees, he also continues to operate the hot dog stand for specials events.
In addition, Robinson graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in 2015 and after subbing for 1½ years was
hired for a full time position at J.I. Case High School as a math teacher in 2017.
