On March 1, Baird Private Wealth Management held its annual Toast of Baird event, where individual offices were singled out for their client service, community involvement and business excellence. If your branch is selected for Branch of the Year, though, you have a decision to make: What do you do with the award, a $2,500 charitable contribution from the firm?
If you’re Baird’s Racine branch, winner of the 2017 Branch of the Year in the Medium category, the answer is easy – you contribute to the Wisconsin Humane Society’s Racine Capital Campaign.
“When it was announced we had won Branch of the Year, several associates immediately nominated the Wisconsin Humane Society for the award,” said Joel Beck, branch manager of Baird’s Racine branch. “We’ve partnered with this fantastic, caring organization a number of times – not only individually through donations, but also as a team through firm-sponsored volunteer events like Baird Gives Back Week. After a formal vote with all associates in the branch, the WHS was the clear winner.”
Beck presented the $2,500 check to Campaign Director Heidi Boyd during the 2018 Baird Gives Back Week event on May 18. Held annually since 2009, Baird Gives Back Week offers Baird associates the opportunity to participate in firm-organized volunteer events in their local communities. In 2017, more than 1,700 Baird volunteers from over 75 locations participated, supporting more than 130 nonprofits across the U.S., Europe and Asia. This is the second consecutive year Baird Racine associates partnered with the Wisconsin Humane Society in Racine.
The Wisconsin Humane Society in Racine launched a $5.4 million capital campaign in November to fund the construction of a new facility. The current shelter, which originally served as a potato barn, proved inadequate to provide proper housing and veterinary care for its 40,000 local animals every year. The proposed 16,000-square-foot building in Mount Pleasant will double the space of the current shelter, offering clean and quiet housing, a dedicated veterinary space and a multi-purpose community room to accommodate volunteers, classes and youth programs.
Baird’s Racine office was recognized as a 2017 Branch of the Year for its business growth and customer satisfaction. “They’ve done a great job at running a client-first office,” said Cory Colvin, Director of PWM Growth Strategy/Market Leader. “They put a lot of work into their client appreciation efforts, and their clients can see that.” In addition to winning the $2,500 charitable contribution, all Racine branch associates will be recognized at a branch reception hosted by Baird’s senior executives.
Headquartered in Milwaukee, Baird provides private wealth management, institutional asset management, private equity, investment banking and capital markets services to clients through offices in the United States, Europe and Asia. Its Private Wealth Management business serves clients coast-to-coast from 94 locations in 30 states.
