Please share a bit about your background:
I grew up in Sheboygan and after serving in the Army, I started school at Milwaukee Area Technical College and got a job at Wheel and Sprocket. That’s where I got my chops. I worked up the ladder, encouraged by the owner, Chris Kegel, who continually pushed me out of my comfort zone. After working at the Trek dealership for 26 years, corporate approached me about starting Trek’s first concept store in Southeastern Wisconsin.
What was the inspiration for your business?
Two things. First, Trek trusting me to represent their brand in the community. Second, having the opportunity to offer quality and rewarding careers in the Racine area, to good people who share a passion for helping others and cycling.
What’s your most popular item(s)?
We carry products for almost every type of cyclist out there, but the core of what we do caters to the recreational and family riders. Hybrids, comfort, mountain, and kids bikes are the staples of what goes out the door everyday. We also carry a full line of e-bikes, with pedal assist, that have been getting very popular as of late. Plus, we have a huge selection of accessories, including clothing, shoes, nutrition, repair supplies and tools.
Do you have a little-known specialty?
We service all makes of bicycles (regardless of brand) and we don’t care what kind or style of bike you ride, we just want you to enjoy your ride! We also don’t expect to get your business unless we’ve earned it.
Can you share a sneak peek to your future plans?
Our customers are going to be the ones who decide and direct what we do in the future. If we’re doing things right, they’ll allow us to continue to grow and support the community the way it’s needed.
