Racine Area Manufacturing and Commerce (RAMAC), the chamber of commerce for the greater Racine area, focuses on many initiatives to help enhance the growth of the business community. RAMAC offers training programs and networking opportunities for its member companies, but also takes time to recognize and celebrate those businesses and people in business who are working to improve the vitality of the greater Racine area.
One way RAMAC is able to celebrate with companies is by facilitating ribbon cuttings with those who may have just opened, moved, remodeled or expanded. Ribbon cuttings bring members, friends, family, colleagues, clients and community leaders together to commemorate positive business growth and an overall improvement of the community’s business climate.
Also, annually, RAMAC takes an evening to reflect and thank those businesses and business people who have made some recognizable efforts in economic development and/or community development. This is done by gathering together for an Annual Business Awards dinner. Two annual awards presented are Manufacturer of the Year and Retail or Service Business of the Year. Companies are chosen for these awards on several factors including history of company growth, longevity, engagement in community initiatives and overall economic impact specific to their industry. A Family Friendly Business of the Year is also recognized for the benefits made available to their employees as well as the policies that form their business’s overall positive culture and environment.
For individuals, a Business Person of the Year award goes to someone who demonstrates outstanding leadership qualities in growing and developing their business or company and hold an integral place in the company’s administration and to its success and recent accomplishments. Also, a young professional in the community is recognized as the YP of the Year as someone who exemplifies Young Professionals of Racine’s motto of connect, grow, succeed and have fun.
There are many worthy businesses and business people in Racine to recognize. RAMAC appreciates and celebrates all its member companies for the great things they do day-to-day for and in our community. As the chamber of commerce, it is important to take time to reflect and recognize accomplishments publicly through these annual awards and ribbon cuttings. RAMAC is committed to supporting the broad and diverse business community in Racine by celebrating and continuing to provide opportunities for businesses to prosper to make Racine the best place to work, live and play.
