The Racine Art Museum is ready to kick off the holiday season with the presentation of the RAM Holiday Tree, leadership in the local presentation of Small Business Saturday, special holiday hours and discounts in the Museum Store and the annual Art of AdOrnaments, Wrappins’ and Greetins’ exhibition.
The RAM Holiday Tree, on display from Nov. 23 – Dec. 30, includes ornaments from a variety of time periods and subjects – all from the late gallerist and arts supporter, Emile H. Mathis II’s collection.
In addition to establishing The Emile H. Mathis II Fund for Children’s Education when he died in 2012, Mathis gave the museum his treasured tree and a cache of handcrafted blown glass ornaments. Mathis spent years collecting ornaments for the tree that he decorated each year for a display in his gallery on Main Street. This tree became a part of the annual Christmas celebrations that took place in Racine’s downtown each year and RAM continues the tradition.
Once again this year, the Museum Store has take a leadership role for Small Business Saturday activities downtown on Nov. 24 – encouraging shopping locally during the holiday season. RAM has gathered over 25 participants, including downtown shops and restaurants, to highlight all that Racine has to offer. Look for the event brochure – filled with great deals and events – available soon at RAM, in participating shops, and online at ramart.org.
In December, the Store will be open on Mondays, to provide additional shopping hours.
RAM members who shop Saturday, Nov. 24 through Sunday, Dec. 4 will enjoy 20% off purchases during Members Discount Days. Not a RAM member? Join now at ramart.org or at RAM to enjoy eight days of fabulous savings in Museum Store along with other fabulous benefits.
The Store invites you to “Be A Patron” of your favorite museums (like RAM) on Sunday, Nov. 25. Holiday shoppers will not only find quality gifts marked by inspiration and educational value, but through your purchases, you will directly support your favorite museums. When you, the patron, purchase a gift from the Museum Store, you help to sustain the museum’s service to the public. Shopping on “Museum Store Sunday” fosters ongoing appreciation and knowledge of art, nature, culture, science and history.
And finally, don’t miss the annual Art of AdOrnaments, Wrappins’ and Greetins’ exhibition at RAM. This stylish show of holiday baubles, handmade gift cards and extraordinary wrapped packages demonstrates the endless creativity of people in our community and beyond. Want to enter your handiwork?
