Jumping into a workout without taking time to prep your body cannot only cause injuries, but set your progress back. Low impact exercises prior to working out can safely prepare you for the workout ahead.
Try a dynamic warm-up along with foam rolling (also known as self-myofascial release) before your next workout. These two components will increase your heart and respiratory rate which increases blood flow to the muscles. It will also prepare your mental readiness which will help you focus.
A couple of dynamic drills you could try are walking lunges with a rotation over the knee and/or body weight squats. Foam rolling can improve your range of motion and flexibility, while loosening tight muscles before you start your workout. Using the rower or stair climber for five to 10 minutes is an additional way to prepare the body.
A great warm-up will help you see an increase in your overall performance!
