Please share a bit about your background:
I attended Lakeside School of Massage in 1994 -95. At that time there were only 3 massage schools in Wisconsin. Now there are many more. I have had my own practice for 24 years and have been in the same location for 22 years. I am Board Certified in Massage and Bodywork and am a member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA). I am also certified by the State of Wisconsin. I have over 400 hours of continuing education.
What was the inspiration for your business?
I was a dancer when I was in my 20s.
First living in Evanston, Ill. where I was in the Gus Giordano Dance II Company and I then moved to New York and auditioned for shows in theater. As a dancer I developed a love for massage working on my fellow dancers. I always felt that massage was a good fit for me because dance and massage have some of the same elements in common; flow, energy, movement and both are physical and done to music.
Your most popular service(s)?
Massage is a great way to reduce stress and relieve muscle tension and is a helpful treatment for low back pain and other soft tissue problems. I specialize in Myofascial massage, relaxation, deep tissue and hot stone therapy. The most common reason that people come in to see me for is to relieve tension in the neck, shoulder and upper back. In this digital age where people spend hours on the computer, this is the area that gets very tight. Massage stimulates the circulatory and lymphatic system to help bring oxygen throughout the body and can improve the quality of your life.
Do you have a little-known specialty?
Aside from massage I am a step aerobics instructor.
