Raise your hand if you’d like summer to last just a little longer. Ok, it’s unanimous, but it doesn’t change the fact that September is upon us and we’re moving on.
But wait, before you start feeling the I-can’t-believe-summer-is-over-blues, consider that the weather is still great during September and there’s so much going on around here that you’re not going to have any time to feel sad.
This issue of the magazine is chock-full of great activities for the month that I think you’re going to have to get your calendar out to note all the places you need to be so you don’t miss anything fun.
Sometimes you go to an event thinking you know just what will happen there and then you experience something unexpected. Like on Aug. 15, I went to a RAMAC Business Blender (which I always enjoy) and besides getting free tacos and strawberry daiquiris (thank you Community State Bank), I got a free caricature courtesy of Tim Mason and the nice folks at Halpin Personnel.
And it was fun! The artist, Paul Merklein, was very friendly and the whole thing took only about five minutes. He has a website called TheFastAndTheFunny.com and his slogan is “Make Your Event Fun, Successful & Memorable!”
The point is, you never quite know what’s going to happen when you attend an event. The only sure thing is that it’s an experience you won’t have if you don’t go. So go!
Here’s some more helpful advice…put every event on your calendar when you first become aware of it (and buy a ticket, if required). Otherwise you’re very likely to forget.
So, to review…read through this issue of the magazine and find all the events that look interesting to you. Circle them, write a list, enter them into your calendar and then show up and let me know what happens – both the expected and the unexpected things.
Take a chance and have some fun!
