The Greater Racine Community, along with the Racine Sheriff, Racine, Mount Pleasant, Sturtevant, Caledonia and Burlington police departments, will host the 6th Annual Policeman’s Ball on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Racine Civic Centre (Festival Hall). Through the generous support of many in the Greater Racine Community, proceeds from previous Policeman’s Ball events were used to support area K9 units, Officer Wellness, Police Honor Guards, the Police Pals Mentoring program and the Fight to End Exploitation organization.
Police K9 Teams: Due to the proven success of local K9 teams in the local fight against crime, it is our goal to provide ongoing supplemental support to our regional team of K9 handlers. The fight against crime and disorder is a regional effort. To achieve maximum impact, our local law enforcement K9 teams are committed to working together as a cohesive unit, building partnerships and sharing information and resources in the process
Officer Wellness: In 2012, the National Center for Officer Safety and Wellness was created to promote officer wellness. Under this initiative, officer training has evolved from general safety and tactical efficiency exclusively, to a broader health and wellness strategy. Law enforcement agencies across the nation are now encouraged to focus on all aspects of officer safety and officer wellness, both on and off the job. From promoting healthy eating habits, to working to improve access to trauma-informed care and PTSD awareness and treatment, local law enforcement leaders are working to create a healthier, more productive workforce of first responders.
Police Honor Guard: Honor Guard Units provide a ceremonial presence and display of honor and respect in support of the profession during funerals, memorial services, promotional ceremonies and other formal events. Whether presenting our nation’s colors during ceremonial events or honoring the memory of those who have served our community, local Honor Guard teams provide an important and vital service to the police profession.
Community Outreach: Mentoring programs with the objective of building positive relationships between police officers and area youth and the community.
