The Racine Senior Center at the United Lutheran Church, 3825 Erie St. in Racine will celebrate its 50th anniversary on Thursday, Oct. 17 with a lunch provided by Infusino’s and a cake from O&H Danish Bakery.
The center opens at 9 a.m. that day, as it does every Thursday to provide seniors with a place to play cards, join a chair exercise group or just socialize. Lunch is served by local restaurants (like Infusino’s, Douglas Diner, Buddy’s Sports Grill and Greg Catering) at noon and the center is open until 1 p.m. The cost for lunch is $5 per person.
The center also hosts monthly guest speakers from the Racine Zoo, Kenosha Civil War Museum, Racine Police Department, Racine Fire Department and the Racine Heritage Museum, as well as parties for special events like Packer games, Halloween and Christmas parties.
On Oct. 17, Walgreens will provide the center’s annual flu shot clinic from 11 a.m. until noon, with blood pressures checked by a parish nurse.
